Description My mother in law was killed tragically, and I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it, but I just can’t. My heart breaks for my husband, Michael, and his siblings as not long ago they lost their dad, and now they have to sort this all out alone. It is horrific. A memory I hold tight in my heart of her is when she came to stay with me when our second baby, Elliott, was born. I was really nervous about my postpartum recovery because as someone prone to high anxiety, I remember how hard the baby blues hit after having my first son. What she offered was more than help—she brought me peace during a time of raw yet beautiful change. She didn’t ask for attention or praise but simply helped where I needed it most. She folded laundry, made us meals, spent lots of one on one time with our toddler, Trevor, and gave me the rest I needed to heal and bond with my newborn. Her presence made me feel safe, and because of her, I navigated the overwhelming emotions and tender moments of postpartum without baby blues this time around. So, this candle is a tribute to my mother-in-law, Elaine, whose quiet strength and support changed my life in one of my most vulnerable moments.
